Who can benefit from a Video Security System?

Video Security is becoming more widespread everyday as a means of keeping track of employees, locations, entryways, and more. Originally designed to monitor safety concerns, video security is continually evolving making it the ideal solution for many types of uses. There are four basic reasons why people want to use a video security system:

  • To help IDENTIFY perpetrators
  • To help PREVENT accidents or wrongdoing
  • To help PROTECT people and property
  • To help OBSERVE processes

Homeowners can identify who is at the door, check on the baby or check the house if they are away. Businesses use video security systems to trigger alerts in case of fire or motion, and to watch over entrances to buildings. Small Businesses can prevent or identify shoplifters or burglars and keep an eye on the business from home. Sadly, today, employee theft is now higher in retail than customer theft and monitoring retail employees is becoming necessary. Financial Institutions can use video security as a deterrent to robbery. Industry & Research can monitor processes, using this information to improve operations and performance. Increase safety and reduce overall workplace liability, as well as maintaining security surveillance. Education and Government can keep an eye on trouble spots, deter vandalism and mischief as well as increase the safety of public areas like parking lots, garages, construction sites and schools.

All these things and many more are possible through

Duncan & Wrights digital video security systems.

Why Digital?

The basic components of a video security system is a security camera, a display monitor, and a recorder. In a large system, of course, there can be a number of security cameras that require multiplexers, splitters, expensive time lapse VCRs and many monitors. Today, however, this analog multiplexing and tape recording equipment has been replaced by our digital video recorders (DVRs). No more forgetting to change the VCR tapes. No more tapes wearing out. No more watching tapes of empty rooms for hours on end. No more having to rush to the store/office/plant in the middle of the night to see what is happening if the burglar alarm goes off.

A complete state-of-the-art digital video security system from Duncan & Wright will include quality CCD cameras connected to a digital video recorder system using advanced computer software. This setup performs all the functions of a:

  • Video Multiplexer: Allows multiple cameras to input simultaneously.
  • Digital Time Lapse Recorder: Allows simultaneous mutli-camera recordings on computer hard disk.
  • Video Monitor: Allows multi-camera images to be displayed on the computer monitor.
  • Alarm Monitor: Alarm Systems or devices such as motion detectors can input alarm signals which trigger camera recordings and even send the recordings to remote computers or notify personnel by telephone/pager.
  • Video Motion Detector: Recordings is triggered by motion in any camera's field of view.
  • Remote Video Monitor: Computerusers at other locations can connect to the DVR system by internet, local network, or dial-up modem and view real-time or recorded camera images, control cameras in real-time and even record remotely.

Such a video security system as described above can mean a significant improvement in loss prevention and safety control for businesses and in peace of mind for home owners.
